Week 7: Preparing for SFG Level 1 Certification

Sunday, April 16, 2017.  Easter Sunday. Week 7 complete, 12 days to go.  720 Swing Volume for the week.

If you haven’t read the first entry, Week 0, read that first.  SFG is the Strong First Girevik Level 1 Certification.  That would be a Kettlebell Certification from the greatest Kettlebell organization in the world.

Work screwed up my schedule this week but I was still successful in getting in all my workouts.  Had to work until 11pm on Monday, which means I  missed my Monday workout.  I was not feeling great Tuesday evening, so I started my first session of the week on Wednesday. I doubled up on Friday so I could fit everything in.  Saturday’s press routine is high volume and high intensity, so I didn’t think it would be smart to do swings on the same day.  Plus, my body is still feeling the effects of Friday’s 26 min swing session.  That’s the longest I’ve done to date. Instead I did my final swing session of the week on Easter Sunday morning.

Wednesday – Press 20×4 / 24×2,3 / 20×4,2

Thursday – Swings 22 min 24KG(L,R) – 220 Swings total

Friday – Press 20×3,4,3 / 24×3,2 / 20×4,3;  COC T-switch to 2,3,5 ladders

Friday – Swings 26 min 24KG(L,R) – 260 Swings total; Pullups 1,2,3

Saturday – Press 20×3,5,4,3 / 26×1 / 24×3,3,2

Sunday  – Swings 24 Minutes 24KG(L,R) EMOM – 240 Swings; Pullups 1,2,3 / 1,2 / 1

Good news!  I finally scheduled my training session with a KB instructor – Mike Perry of Skill of Strength in Chelmsford, MA.  Really looking forward to the session Tuesday evening.  Work on technique and proper form on the snatch and other exercises.  I feel very competent in the swing, press and getup.  Not so much with snatch and double cleans.  I’ll find out from the expert whether my perception matches reality.  I should video tape my press and swing workout,  Next week.

Purchased a box of Whole30 sampler’s from EPIC provisions out of Austin.  Most of it is excellent, can’t get my behind the beef liver though.  Tasted okay at first, then a strong liver taste came through, not in a positive  way.  All the venison packs were fantastic.  I’ve had all the bars before – chicken, bison, beef, turkey, lamb.  Lamb is still my favorite.  I also heard about getting liver through American Braunschweiger, which is like liverwurst.  I ordered from grasslandbeef.com (US Wellness Meats).

Stay Strong!
